As we all know, the metallics trend has moved out of wearable fashion and into the home. Nowhere is the fascinating dichotomy of metal and the delicate curves of plant life used to better effect than in Jocelyn Warner’s line of wallpaper.
Her Leaf Metallic print caught my eye, with its subtly mirrored surface, it’ll make even the most indoorsy of us feel like catching a piece of outdoor heaven. Unlike other wallpapers that can leave a room feel smaller than its actual dimensions, Warner’s papers are fresh and lively, enhancing any space with their subtle charm.

Moderncollections.com – a longtime favorite for the designer seeking the rare and interesting – presents a kid’s table with a twist.
This circular table is perfect for the burgeoning artist. The surface is a chalkboard, with a pitted center providing the perfect nest for all those chalky odds and ends. Designed by Eric Pfieffer for Offi and Co, you might also be releasing the design within your toddler.
Better still, this easy-to-clean artistic marvel is no neon eyesore in need of nursery banishment. In fact, with its birch ply color you might have a hard time keeping the adults from adding their own touches to your tyke’s latest masterpiece.

Dimmers and candles are fine, but we prefer a more sophisticated option for mood lighting. And by that we mean lamps that are not only inspiring for the degree and texture of light they emit, but for their shape and form. Northern Lighting, a Norwegian design firm, understandably has the mood lighting thing down pat – as Norway is in a nook of the Earth that endures dramatically different seasons, the brilliance of midnight suns, and the beauty of the northern lights.
In addition to its seasons and nature, Scandinavian culture figures prominently in Northern Lighting’s lamps — from “Snowball” table lamps to the “Moo,” a full-scale wall-mounted Norwegian light moose head.

Award-winning product design studio Oliver Hemming Ltd. has been dressing up kitchens since 2000, with teapots, water jugs, electrical appliances, trays, clocks, and spice grinders. As a British art student who opened his own silversmithing studio after graduating from Oxford, it’s not surprising that Hemming’s forte has been silver accessories for tea service.
There are now 10 collections in the designer’s oeuvre that now include wood products, and a new series, “Kiloman,” devoted to stainless steel kitchen scales for the portion-control conscious. Our favorite, and the most classic, series is “Nio.” For example, the Nio toaster is a hit for its function (its length can accommodate a baguette, and it can be set to defrost frozen bread) as well as its form, which offers a sleek take on the vintage, machine-age toaster. The greatest hit in this collection – and the one we’re recommending to you – is the Nio kettle. The stainless steel piece will command respect in any kitchen for its streamlined, sensible design. It’s available in an electric version too.

A 4th generation textile artist, Vanina Mizrahi’s beautifully piled rugs make even the most inured designer salivate. Her distinctive trademarks include her ultra soft weaves and her brilliant color palates.
Vanina’s background in art history informs her every design. Having studied under several great Argentinean artists, her artist persona is clear, strong, and grounded in a great tradition.
I was particularly struck by the bold and somehow peaceable quality of her ‘Kit’ rug. An added incentive to purchase from her collection? Collaboration is her passion, and she relishes working with designers and home owners to come up with something distinctive for every client.

I’m always a watchdog where Jonathan Adler is concerned. Adler is one of those rare designs who unashamedly and unabashedly will sing another artist’s work to the rooftops if he believes it’s remarkable. It is Adler’s own remarkable taste and assurance that we have to credit with this particular find.
C. Jere’s wall sculptures, available for purchase on Adler’s website, harken to the best of all things groovy. With an eye on decadence, and luxury, his work is a rarity among other sculptures of the era.
I was particularly struck by his piece entitled “Raindrops,” no doom and gloom here, just pure metallic glitz and texture. The piece is comprised of brass ‘raindrops’ and pieces of mirror all streaming from brass petals. A fine mixture of ironic metallics and beauty no one can deny, this piece is a finisher of the highest order.

Minimalism, in spite of its clean lines and universal appeal, can seem tired. How many ways can you do clean lines before it begins to feel that you’d gladly offer up cleanliness for a little fun?
Blasco offers this with their outdoor collection, by designing a collection of outdoors pieces in the minimalist tradition for outdoor spaces. The cool color schemes, and utilitarian effect of the pieces complements the outdoor arena like nothing else I’ve seen, and their level of durability makes them a worthwhile investment.
