London based Belsize Architects re-designed this property, located on a narrow street close to Hampstead Village and the Heath, and was comprised of three flats. The client was interested from the outset in an uncompromising contemporary design. His brief was to make the house into a modern home, full of light, and to ensure that there was a “ wow” factor on the raised ground and lower ground floor. The brief was also to transform the back of the house by extending it and forming a spatial connection between the house and the garden, with new, low-key landscaping to complement the overall design.(via)

And you thought painting a wall was maintenance task – turns out the best way to approach the problem spaces plaguing your paint job is with the canny know-how of fine artists. Not sure you can tap in to your inner Degas? As always, we’re here to help!
If the room is overly large or long trying selecting one warm shaded color to apply to just one wall, leaving the others white. When you do this, you’ll be playing a visual trick – making the warm shaded wall appear to be moving forward or advancing, making the space appear smaller – but never cramped!
If your room is smaller or shorter, just invert the trick by paint one wall a cool color, they way we suggested white above, while keeping the other walls warm, warm, warm. The white or cool toned wall will appear to pull back giving the illusion of more space – without creating a cave!
Now most of us crave high ceilings, but if they are the bane of your existence there are a couple of ways around this. First off, try painting the ceiling a darker shade, by doing so you’re applying the logic we discussed previously – the ceiling will appear lower if it is darker. Alternately, you can pull the color you’re using on the ceiling and extend it to the top section of the walls, only the first foot or so, again, to pull the ceiling closer down.
Low ceilings the problem? Again, invert the equation above! Paint that ceiling a light shade! If you aren’t satisfied with that result, you can bring the wall color up – no more than 6 inches or it’ll look weird. Another tip pilfered from the world of fashion – paint your baseboards the same colors as the walls – monochromatic color gives the illusion of length and height!

Alberto Colonello has designed a minimalist kitchen for Boffi that takes a different approach to the concept. When unused, the kitchen stays literally “off”, it remains closed.
Created to look like a single mono block of steel when closed, its unobtrusive exterior boasts metal handles, which are barely visible and merge into the smooth polish of steel.(via)

I sat here for quite some time pondering exactly the right sentiment, the right note to hit, when it comes to offering up my musings on this killer find by Blofield, and I realized, that much though I love colorful and flowery language, sometimes simple is best. This, is one of those times.
Inflatable. Chesterfields.
Yup.
