Carpeting gets a back wrap – no other element of design is put in place for you to literally wipe your feet on. Why can’t carpeting be whimsical, fun, inventive, and accessible? Why can’t it be just as creative and unique as you are? I mean after all, haven’t you spent enough money and time ensuring that the rest of your home is? Twinkle Living is the embodiment of the style of its designer, Welan Chia. It breaks the mold and lives up to its name with their funky gorgeous rugs. In fact, they’re so cool, they might have you taking off your shoes before stepping onto the rug for a closer look. My personal fav is their Asian inspired patten, Formosa. Use it in an entry wall, or even as wall art! Check out their website for more of Chia’s funky inspirational ideas!

The varying proportion, round forms of the Strata Chandelier are soothing, yet playful. The glass is layered when blown, creating an organic, internal stripe.

I can think of no better place to stay in Paris, city of lights, than One by the Five. Location being everything, One has this in spades. As if that weren’t enough, the hotel literally sparkles with the light and vibrancy of the streets of the great city of Paris itself. Oozing with sensuality and artistry, but with a sense of comfort strong enough to make anyone feel at home, the One has something for everyone – it earns its name and then some!

Just as the kitchen inside the home provides the central gathering place for families and friends, the outdoor kitchen has become the heart of the garden.

“The goal was to design something inspired by culture and folklore, in this case Mexican’s. In a place with such a variety of colors and folklore like Mexico, is very difficult to take all and combine it in one piece, so I look at some of our dresses and colors and try to capture the shapes made by dresses in movement in order to design the Dancing Table and the Dancing Carpet.” by Joel Escalona

Very seldom is something so essential so very personal as well. What good is a sink or tub without a faucet to bring the water to you? When you pick a faucet you’ll want to consider your own comfort level first – what do you prefer, a larger opening or smaller opening? Do you want a handle built into the fixture, or perhaps two different handles one for hot water or one for cold, do you want to handle to pull and push or turn? Maybe you crave something futuristic – take a gander at this automatic sensor faucet from Toto! Or maybe you’re a bit old fashioned and crave something classic, like this basin filler over at Dornbracht.
Check out your bathroom as it stands now, see if you’re happy with the way in which your faucets are set up, from there you can move on to the more creative side – style and finish!
There are countless styles and finishes to choose from, but hopefully you’re savvy enough to select one that fits with the overall feel of the design you’ve already got in place. Is your bathroom inspired by the reign of Marie Antoinette? Then perhaps it’s all right to go with something ornate. Is Modernism at play in your bathroom? Then sleek and smooth are probably the best ways to go, check out this wall mounted fixture we discovered by Kohler – totally space age. Don’t want to go to space, would rather stay on earth, keeping it green – now we’ve got eco-friendly options, check out this gorgeous option by Omax – wood.
Keep in mind when you’re exploring your options, this is something you’re going to use everyday and while cost is a factor, don’t let it be a hindrance!
