Born in Japan in 1941, Toyo Ito started his own studio Urban Robot in 1971. Ito loves to experiment the different use of materials and to look for new tactile and visual opportunities. He is a master in dematerializing and lightening. Since 2002 he has been collaborating with modern furniture maker Horm and here are the stunning pieces he designed for them:

In addition to its minimal odor, what’s great about Eco Spec is that the paints contain absolutely zero VOCs. If you are not familiar with VOCs, also know as volatile organic compounds, they are organic chemical agents that can vaporize the atmosphere with the potential of being harmful or toxic to organisms and elements in the atmosphere, groundwater, and indoor air. Fortunately, with Eco Spec you don’t have to worry about any of the negative aspects of VOCs because you wont be dealing with any.

The Trask Lamp is a true example of eco-centric design. Its size, shape, light source, and packaging were all chosen based on material and manufacturing efficiencies. In addition, this lamp welcomes the user as co-designer, pushing the boundaries of design and self-assembly.

Tsai Residence is a modern country residence in upstate New York, about 2 hours from New York City. Designed by Swiss-based HHF Architects as the home for two young art collectors, the concept was for a clean and simple abstract design situated on the highest elevation of the hilled site to allow for maximum views of the surrounding countryside.

This the second property we have featured from Suppose Design Office, after our Modern Dream Home: Color Inspirations feature last week, and the reason for doing so is that we couldn’t feature Suppose without showcasing one of their most celebrated homes, which incorporates Eco-friendly Passive Solar Design, completed in 2007 in the Hiroshima region of Otake, Japan.
