ChicTip.com is edited and published by Michelle & Keren, both professional designers with an addiction to modern and mid-century design.
Keren started her career as a software programmer, with an emphasis on User Interface. This failed to satisfy her appetite to work more impactfully with design and asthetic so,after moving to the New York area where she studied at New York School of Interior Design, she chose to work directly with clients on Interiors for their homes.
Keren currently resides in the New Jersey suburbs, just outside of New York City, with her husband, two children, Liam and Maya, and their dog JoyJoy. Constantly re-inventing and redecorating the rooms of her home, Keren’s style is “contemporary modern, with a soft spot for Mid-century design”.
Michelle is an architect and interior designer that worked for several years in New York City and currently lives in London with her husband and two daughters (Gaya & Mia). “My design style is modern, minimalistic with clean lines. I am a big fan of mid century design, white spaces (scandinavian style) with a touch of colours through furniture, accessories and fabrics”. My work on ChicTip is my way to help people see and love design the way I do.
Jaclyn has been a freelance writer covering Interior Design for the past year. She had a medical background, but fell in love with writing. Her true hidden passion has always been design and aesthetics, so writing for ChicTip is a perfect fit. She currently lives with her husband and two kids (Ryshan and Jaci) in the Philippines.
“Creativity has been my passion whether in words or in aesthetics. If I can’t do both, I strive to develop one, which is why I followed the path to writing and the most amazing thing about this is I get to appreciate simplicity and beauty plus I get to travel around the world without moving an inch. I have a soft spot for classic design – which warms the heart and calms the soul.”
.When moving from the West Coast to the greater NYC area, Karen found that the towns that seemed most hospitable to raising her young family were also lacking in the availability of contemporary homes with the modern design that she loved. So she set about trying to find and then create her “California Ranch” in the New Jersey suburbs. After searching for two years, she found a suitable space and along with her husband and two children (Marcus and Jonathan) the process of creating a contemporary minimalistic home with a splash of Scandinavian style began. With her passion for modern design and environmental conservation, Karen joined ChicTip last year as an Editor. Karen also has a small handbag design business of her own which can be found at karenshearer.com.
