Holiday Table Setting Ideas

Autumn is all about the harvest, and pieces of fresh fruit make wonderful table decorations for Thanksgiving because they’re bright, beautiful, inexpensive, and… edible! You can do a lot of different things to decorate a Thanksgiving dinner table with fruit. You can add little name tags to the stems of pears or apples and use them as place setting cards (as pictured), or use a bowl of fresh, bright apples as a Thanksgiving table centerpiece. Dotting a bowl or plate of a single kind of fruit with a single kind of flower bloom in a contrasting color is a simple, elegant variation on this. For an unusual twist, surround a bouquet or flowers with cut fruit (cut side facing out) in a large, simple vase. Delivered flowers, incorporating autumnal fruit and vegetable themes, are always available for those who prefer to put their energy and focus into the Thanksgiving dinner. Whether delivered or self-arranged, the effect is one which shows off the fruit’s most intense colors and whets people’s appetites for something fresh and tasty. And don’t forget you can decorate your desserts with fruit–berries and fruit slices make the perfect accent for cupcakes, muffins and cakes, and of course add flavor, too.

Lately I have been to CB2, the new store in Soho Manhattan, and I must tell you, they have beautiful pillows and great accessories to decorate your house (it looks even better in the store). I don’t know how it happened but I found myself buying Christmas ornaments as usual. I just love their Christmas ornaments.

Swedish Christmas By Design Stockholm House

Christmas is right on the corner so you defiantly should get ready for this holiday, here are some products that can help you to start from Design Stockholm House.

As simple as it gets: a bow of light for Christmas as well as for illuminating any dark times of the year. Carina Ahlburg’s bestselling Lightbow is made of sandblasted aluminium and is available in white, black or silver.

Pine Tree Stand challenges a time-honoured tradition by placing the star under instead of on the top of the Christmas tree. Or why not both? Maria Håård’s design piece is rigid and sturdy, and will keep any Christmas tree standing tall.

Halloween Decorating

One of the best things about the holidays, is redecorating! Halloween doesn’t have to mean cackling witches and tacky patchwork stuffed pumpkins. In fact, skull heads don’t have be “punk rock” or creepy- they can be the perfect touch to give your home the holiday spirit while sticking to your innate design sense. So start simple, don’t bust out the Christmas mugs quite yet, try showing your Halloween spirit by replacing some of your dishes with Etsy design skull mugs (which also double as baking mugs! perfect for spooky cupcakes), or a set of “bone appetit” skeletal plates- I want the ribcage plate!

If you want to go a little more in depth, Beware the Moon has skull wallpaper, in shades from gothic black to baby pink- see, skulls are girly! Small changes in your home like A+R’s skull monkey box made of porcelain, with a few black and gold candles- will show that you’re ready for Halloween! Now if only you could find the “perfect” costume…..
