Designer Frances Herrera, owner of Interiors by Francesca design studio, was kind enough to send us few of her latest kids room projects and shared with us few tips on how is best to design your precious ones rooms.

Great space planning, functionality and organization are the key to keeping your kids inspired and focused on school life.

 

1.Make sure your space is well lit with the use of fun and functional task and desk lighting in bold, stimulating colors to keep your child in the creative mode.

2.Add a reading corner with bean bags. (We love those from PB teen.) It’s a great, simple and affordable solution to get your child excited to read. Or, if budget permits, add a custom built in, which provides both seating for reading and storage for toys . Add a floor lamp next to it and the constant homework struggle will cease.

3.Hang a pin board. It’s a great tool to keep your kids’ hectic schedules organized and easily accessible. Apply your favorite poppy fabric and you have a special custom piece of artwork that is also functional and useful/ helpful.

4.For all those long hours of homework time, be sure to include a comfortable desk chair. Check out the ones we found at PB Teen which come in tons of colors to suit your décor.

5.Keep your clutter contained with storage bins. They conceal/ organize your mess but can also be used as furniture substitutes

6.Color coordinate your books for a neat and cohesive/ look.

7.Use your vertical space to your advantage in small rooms by utilizing loft beds that allow extra space below for desks or storage furniture. Also, add wall shelves and ledges to maximize your space.

8.Since kids love to spread out on the floor, be sure to add a soft and stylish rug This allows them room to spread out and really dive into their work load or toys.
