Making the Most of your Living Room

In the last few years, interior design has become something of an art form, with people from all walks of life using it as a means of expressing their personalities. It’s a great way to reinvent and get to grips with some lateral thinking as you plan the shape and design that suits you.

The living room is at the heart of any home. It’s where you sit and relax after a long day at work, it’s where you entertain guests and let the kids run wild. That’s why it’s important to have an environment that befits your needs while remaining practical and space efficient.

If you’re getting to grips with redecorating, the best way to start is to look at the light within the room. If you don’t get much natural daylight, it’s probably best to avoid dark colours. If you use a light shade in a dark room, it will help to open up the space and make it appear a little larger than it is.

When you get your old furniture out of there, you’ll be able to gauge much more accurately the amount of floor space available. If you’re a little tight in terms of room size, there are some great, practical solutions around. You might like to try a corner sofa. What could be better than stretch out across your new, luxurious corner sofa after a long day at the office? For instance, if you’re going for a contemporary look, a gorgeous Vittorio corner sofa in opera red would suit your room perfectly. This sofa is adaptable to your needs – you can part the two sections and use them as beds if you have guests over. The Henry corner sofa also provides you with comfortable seating and fantastic sleeping options. You can relax in comfort on this elegant design, which easily doubles as a bed for guests. It has excellent night time support on a pocket sprung mattress, with space to store bedding. For Downton fans searching for a spot of 1920s chic, the Halston in harvest green could be the perfect choice to bring a little glamour to your room.

Finally, if you want to add a personal touch to your room, why not try making some of your own artwork, or asking friends and family to do so for you? It’ll brighten up the wall space and add a little team spirit to the process of redecorating.
