Situated in the exclusive Cluny Area of tiny Singapore, this hilltop home is a tremendous example of luxury modern construction from natural materials. Designed by leading firm K2Ld Architects, the concept for this home was to remove the transitional boundaries from the inside to the exterior and Mother Nature. Let’s take a further look at what is one of the best examples of modern tropical living available today.

The design team at K2Ld specializes in varied use of natural materials, the result being that the view of the home differs greatly from each side. The home is positioned on an East-to-West orientation along the length of the property with a thin edged metal roof that provides a modern, contemporary-styled, overhang which functions as a shade from the sun for the living areas below.

The home makes abundant use of glazing throughout, allowing panoramic views of the lush gardens and surrounding area. The surrounding trees work to soften the often harsh sunlight and provide excellent luminosity throughout the home.

The pool area is more like a spa, with a relaxing and zen-like quality.

We love that the home transitions to the pool with an open living area, providing an inviting feeling that ensures this is a popular gathering place.

Internally, the home is furnished minimally, using classic contemporary modern designs with warm and rich-textured natural materials. This reinforces the client’s objective of wanting to feel at one with nature as much as possible.

We particularly love the use of black and white to add some contrast and clean lines to the esthetic of the home. It provides a chic and modern feel and combines beautifully with the generous amount of natural light within the home. Note that the shades are chosen to deflect harsh sunlight, but still allow natural light into the home, this is great design planning by the K2Ld team, and a useful consideration for living areas other than bedrooms.
We adore this home and think this is luxury living at its finest. For us, this is definitely worthy feature of the title Modern Dream Home.
