The “modern” bedroom is not just a “new” space in terms of physical age. What defines a “modern bedroom” is one embellished and furnished in a manner that conforms to modern design values. This usually means that furnishings have to represent a characteristically modern minimalist aesthetic to be considered modern bedroom furniture. In other words: less is more.
First and foremost, to achieve a truly modern look, you will want to organize your bedroom. Throw out all those superfluous furnishings and clutter that takes up space in your room. Your goal is to achieve an organized room that is effectively delineated by simple, straight lines and clean edges. In keeping with this theme, you will also want to lose any decadent, bulbous, flowery antique furniture in favor of some slick, streamlined, and stylish modern bedroom furniture.
Next, try to find a consistent theme that works. Usually, contemporary bedrooms go with a high-contrast color scheme which manifests itself in lightly colored walls (often just plain white) and dark-wood or black furniture. As an example: black platform beds are dramatic and impressive with clean white sheets.
Just because these furnishings are simple, don’t assume that their presence is subtle. In fact, modern bedroom furniture is often displayed prominently in the master bedroom to give the space some added flair and show some pride.
Accessories like pillows and lamps should complement your platform beds and other furnishings, but don’t overwhelm the room with them. Remember, less is more. Decorate your contemporary bed with a red pillow or two, or put a beautiful silver lamp on your nightstand. With a little ingenuity and a less-is-more mindset, you will soon be on your way toward having a sophisticated and classy modern bedroom.

I like the low height beds, this is much better as the bed seems to dominate the room less, making it seem like there is more space.
