Outofstock is a design collective, born out of a fortuitous meeting in Stockholm, hence the name Outofstock. Gabriel Tan and Wendy Chua from Singapore, Gustavo Maggio from Argentina and Sebastián Alberdi from Spain met at Electrolux Design Lab in 2005. They connected, kept in touch, and after a reunion in 2006, decided to collaborate. This collaboration grew into an integrated studio offering interior and product design services and they have not looked back since.
Now located out of international offices including Singapore, Spain, and Argentina – their designs range from modern furniture pieces to simple shelves for your room, while their products spread across table lamps inspired by plastic toy soldiers to USB data sticks that resemble that of an old school rubber eraser from elementary school. In addition, this teams hand has handled entire spaces including the interiors of Singapore’s Bella Pasta and Hatched restaurant locales.
It is no denying that the team created is comprised of outstanding innovators and award winners. Prior to forming Outofstock, Gabriel Tan has won several prizes including the Bombay Sapphire Tokyo Grand Prix, Electrolux Design Lab award and an IDEA award. Wendy Chua was also a winner of the Electrolux Design Lab and IDEA award. Gustavo Maggio works have been exhibited in Buenos Aires, Stockholm and Milan.
