Dream Home: 1525 Blue Jay Way by Dennis Design Group

As the old saying goes, not a bad seat in the house – and is also true for this modern dream home, as there is not a single seat or space that does not contain a stunning view of Los Angeles or that is not just to die for itself in spectacular modern design.

Principal Designer of Dennis Design Group, Lori Dennis, has become know for overseeing complete interior and exterior design and development in residential, hospitality, and commercial projects – which has landed her recognition and features on HGTV, Food Network, NBC, Home Magazine, and California Home.

Inspired by world travel and hotels such in Mexico such as La Purificadora, Dennis designed the Blue Jay residence to have a seamless indoor/outdoor living space that was both masculine and feminine in style.  And so the design utilized world class materials, finishes, and furnishings that would age gracefully, and never go out of style.

One of the key features to providing that seamless transition from indoor to outdoor are the floor to ceiling windows and open floor plan that allow natural daylight and airflow virtually everywhere in the Blue Jay residence.  Walking from space to space, beautiful limestone 4×4 slab flooring was installed and acts as a heat sink, absorbing solar energy during the day and releasing it doing the cooler evenings.

Within the natural grey stone and white washed oak kitchen are sustainable cabinets designed by Valcucine and top of the line appliances by Gaggenau.  The warm grey counters are made of recycled content quartz.

Moving into the master suite, the coordinating bathroom contains several natural materials including bronze and lava rock, which are known to help balance magnetic fields and the central nervous system, creating an environment that literally melts the stress away.  Dornbracht fixtures act as sculptures, and the hand carved stone tub provides a spa quality that would make it almost impossible to leave this room.

Custom furniture and fabrics throughout the home were created by Dennis Design Group and are eco-friendly, organic, built from FSC certified woods and non-petroleum product cushions.
