The unlikely setting where the Even Yehuda House was located made its design entirely unique. It is located at a rural town in Even Yehuda, which is a 20-minute drive town from Tel Aviv, Israel. The concept followed by this dream home has been inspired by the Gothic Shaped Drawing work of Walter De Maria, a minimalist artist. The artist’s work showed the most basic 2D house and it is almost as if the drawing was by a child rather than a renowned artist.
This concept was applied in this modern home resulting to a simple yet complex design for the house all at the same time. There is a tall brick wall that has been painted in this traditionally shaped house provided the modern architecture the necessary privacy along with the connected outdoor chimney. This was what the client wanted hence its installation out front. This is in contrast with the rear side of the house which was constructed with glass and almost open to the back as it is oriented towards the north.
The house floor plans were implemented really well to create this minimalistic and modern design. By the collaboration of Oded Stern-Meiraz and Sharon Neuman, the resulting architecture made me feel like I am living in a futuristic world. I looked at the interior design of this home and I think that it is the simplest design complementing the current “modern theme.”
There is a floating open balcony or bridge structure located on the first level that acts as a canopy covering the primary entrance directly below it. This balcony leads the guests through a long gap between the exterior wall and the main entrance of the house.
I must assert that the design is reflective of modernity and style or have I said that already? Whatever level of privacy there is on the front side of the home is complemented by the openness of space at its rear side making the two contrasting ideas complement each other perfectly.
The house has three levels all in all namely – basement with shelter, cinema and play room, the ground floor where you can see the sleek design of the great kitchen and the TV room and the first level of the building that contained the master bedroom suit, rooms for children and the work space.
The interiors reinforce the thought of having a modern but simplistic style. The total area of the project reaches up to 260 square meters. The bathroom design is sleek and modern yet it also bears the same simplicity and style that the house carries as its identity along with its layout which is truly inspirational.
