It’s no sin to have several dream homes at the same time and this Modern High-Tech Mansion in California just happened to be one of them. It is located specifically at 92 Sutherland Drive in Atherton, California USA. The project was completed in 2010 by the Lencioni Construction but the precision craftsmanship and the interior design was done by Swatt Miers. This dream home has an undeniable expression of contemporary design standing royally on a 2.6-acre Private resort-like area. It is complete with pool, spa, playground, barbecue kitchen, lawn and beyond.
The modern home has three levels that were finished with extraordinary materials including – African walnut, Honduran mahogany and the stand alone lighting fixtures that resemble a work of art. The materials used in this modern architecture created a lavish yet meditative tone that complements the natural beauty of the setting.
I find the tremendous glass walls with hidden custom shades extremely attractive and pleasing to the eyes. It invites the exterior beauty in the interiors of the home and in addition invites the abundance of natural light inside the home making it seem bright and light. It also highlighted the primary design elements found inside the home. Majority of these glass walls provide cross-ventilation and created a seamless communication to the outdoors. I believe the heritage oak is the focal point of the design where the house floor plans has been based resulting to L-shape architecture.
The architecture is composed of 5 bedrooms including the master suite and the main-level suite that you can access from the outside – ideal as a home office or for guests.
The interior design is spacious with emphasis on the floating steps, glass bridge walkway that reminds me of the Modern Art Museum and soft ceiling lines connected to the projecting structure outdoors. It also has the attached garage that can accommodate up to 3 cars.
The house interior follows the open space solutions and I think this is the best approach that the modern architects have done, which otherwise wouldn’t be possible. The understandable height of the structure gives way for the creation of stunning living spaces.
What I found personally appealing is the bathroom design, which is definitely inspirational in every way – not to mention that the entire home already had an interesting layout. It gave me a sense of belongingness and the thought of having this home for myself made me weak.
