Dream Home: Seattle Contemporary Residence by George Daniel Wittman/Architects

George Daniel Wittman/Architects (GDW/A) of the Mercer Island based firm in Seattle completed this dream home – the Seattle Contemporary Residence. This prestigious firm has implemented extremely amazing house floor plans and the modern architects didn’t stop there. I have reason to believe this is by far the best modern overhaul done on a waterfront residence. The original living space suffered with an uninspired design hence the facelift.

The modern architecture rests on a steep sloped lot provided with an expansive view of Lake Washington – for me this is breathtaking. The original place of residence is already in its prime location but it was GDW/A that reinvented the home with undeniable modern touch.

At a glance, I see it as boxes placed on top one another but looking at the interiors I must say that it is ultra-modern and provided with pristine edges. The glass windows invite the surrounding environment in like natural paintings – as if it’s part of the interior design. Additionally, it also invites abundant light inside the pristine architecture.

I definitely love the great kitchen, which speaks about perfection especially in terms of functionality and design. The bathroom design has a canvass effect without deviating from modernity – no way! Both spaces are modernly minimalistic with neat and uncluttered space.

There is also an extension made to the garage so that the Exercise Room and Art Studio are well-accommodated. The inspirational layout of the entire home can be attributed to the extensive modifications and alterations made on the interiors.

The entire project is completed in early 2012 and the result goes beyond just an artistic expression of an architectural endeavor. If any, the results are essentially timeless.

  1. Absolutely love the windows above the garage. They accent the front of the house beautifully and really help to brighten up the interior with natural sunlight. Their height also helps to make the space feel more open. A great design choice!
