Dream Homes : Victoria 73 by Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects

South Africa’s Capetown received another beautiful addition to its landscape when Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects swooped in and built Victoria 73.  Set on a spur of land between Bantry Beach and Clifton, the home is smooth, contemporary, elegant and luxurious.

It’s also built to embrace the outdoors.  Greenery surrounds the back and sides of the residence and the front is set against the ocean in a way that sometimes feels like the entire home is floating on the water.

Colossal floor to ceiling windows blur the lines between indoors and out, with parts of the home’s surroundings creating a tamed effect.  The ocean and tall rock cliff at the other sides of the home feel wilder though, and the architects took advantage of the views by creating multiple outdoor spaces.

The first outdoor space features white furniture and a finely manicured garden with a reflecting pool that projects straight onto the water.  The other is funkier and more intimate.  Set outside of a contemporary red room, the only feature of the space is two bubble chairs suspended from the overhang above.

Antoni Associates took control of the seaside villa’s interior, which boasts wood floors and detailing along with white walls and furniture sprinkled with black and red furniture.  The home also features occasional red color blocks and classic sculptures set against contemporary art that blurs the lines between fine art and the street.

The home’s character changes as light floods in with different degrees of intensity throughout the day, revealing different facets of influence with every passing hour.  Whether its the art, the sculptures, or the slightly Asian influence that catches your attention, this top notch seaside villa features strong and playful personal touches in all the best possible ways.
