This beautiful modern home is situated in Palo Alto, California, USA, and is designed by local firm Maydan Design Associates. The house was completed in 2005 and provides the owners with 3,600 square feet of open-styled luxury living space.

The feature piece of the home is the dramatic modern staircase, that spirals elegantly upward against the backdrop of a opaque frosted glass picture window that is the height of two floors.

Throughout the home, bright color have been used to accent the color palette of whites and greys. The home also benefits from the extensive use of glazing throughout, which fills the home with natural light. The main living area being a fine example of the use of such color, with a bright orange contemporary lounge chair as a feature and cushions on the same color used against a grey and white bench stool. This helps provide some warmth and contrast to the room, which the fireplace can also assume in the winter months.

This theme continues from the main living area into the transitional eat-in area of the kitchen, that features bright orange dining chairs to compliment the previous rooms color scheme and add a sense of welcoming and fun to these two high-traffic areas of the home.

The main dining area has a more neutral and formal feel to its color scheme, accenting the dark wood table and chairs with white seating and back covers for the chairs and white decorative vases on the dining table, for a very chic and sophisticated look.

The lower level of the home has multiple functional living spaces, including an entertainment area that blends a sleek contemporary entertainment center with the large TV and a small desk area with enough space to work with a laptop.

The kitchen area is minimalist and uncluttered, with the white granite countertops,  darkwood cabinetry and stainless steel sink and appliances providing a very chic and modern look that is elegant in its simpleness.

The bedroom area continue the minimalist theme, with low-level beds and side tables that are complimented by contemporary wall art and tall, thin, vases for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

The bathroom areas re-introduce the bright orange theme, providing warmth and texture that accentuates the warm neutral tones of the tiling and countertops.

The home doesn’t just exude contemporary chic inside, either. Outside, the home features a decked area in the rear garden that has clean, rectilinear lines in both the deck and the accompanying furniture that has a Japanese-like quality to it.
