A headline caught my eye today during my morning news review, as I recognized the name of a famous Internet mogul selling his home as being the same person that bought one of my favorite Hollywood Homes several years ago. Baroda Park, in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, is back on the market – through Linda May Properties – so it’s an excellent time for us to take a look.

Hollywood Actor Gary Cooper, and his wife, commissioned famed architect A. Quincy Jones (some sources say in 1954, some say in 1955, but let’s not split hairs) to build the home as they were known admirers of his modernist style. The result is an exquisite Mid-century home boasting some 5700+ square feet of living space on a sprawling property of around 2.5 acres.
For sale by Internet mogul, and founder of GeoCities.com, David Bohnett, Baroda Park is a home that combines a heady, and historical, mix of Hollywood & Architectural Royalty that will no doubt see it snapped up quickly, even in this economy, despite the lofty price tag of $18.9 Million dollars.

The current owner has maintained the property’s character beautifully, from the sensationally stylish interiors to the landscaped gardens. It’s easy to say, when one is as rich as Bohnett, that it’s easy to fill your home with such exquisite furniture and art, but I applaud the way he has tastefully and thoughtfully managed to maintain the integrity of the property. Such responsibility takes significant time and resources, but with such an important property is a shrew investment indeed. This, more than most, really is a Modern Dream Home.
