When we’re seeking out that “pefect place to call home” often there has to be a “magical” aspect to it, unlike anything else that will really grab our attention and make us say, “YES- I’m buying this!” Rita Huys, the designer of The Barn House in Belgium understood that with her newest project; the barn house she cleverly transformed into a stylish, modern home.
In the beautiful, lush rolling hills of Central West Flanders in Belgium, Huys and interior design firm Buro2 turned the old farmhouse, barn structure into a home that accentuated the landscape, but was in her terms, “the main place where people lived alongside nature, seeing it both as force and as threat,” interesting concept, indeed.
The views of the countryside are an essential aspect, while the home serves as a beacon of comfort and relaxation amongst the working land. The dense shutters give the air of seclusion and mystery form the outside, while the interior glows in the evening with a warm light, clean lines and modern/contermporary furniture- a stark contrast from the outdoors in. The last time I went to Belgium I didn’t see anything like this, not there or anywhere else for that matter…it is a truly unique home!

This has to be one of the most creative designs for a home I’ve seen in a long time! The clean white interior along with the openness due to the large windows creates a gorgeous space. You would never think by looking at the interior that this home was actually a barn!
