Tsai Residence is a modern country residence in upstate New York, about 2 hours from New York City. Designed by Swiss-based HHF Architects as the home for two young art collectors, the concept was for a clean and simple abstract design situated on the highest elevation of the hilled site to allow for maximum views of the surrounding countryside.
Although giving the appearance of 4 seemingly seperate structures, the home is actually connected throughout and the interesting futuristic exterior finish is achieved through the entire property being clad in corrugated metal panels.
The exquisite choice of furniture throughout is contemporary and minimalist, which enables the owner’s art collection to be take center stage.
The interior makes use of rich, dark woods and grey stonework to add a warm and textured feel to the home, particularly on the upper level which makes extensive use of dark woods for the floors, stairs, shelving and paneling.
We particularly love the master bedrooom, which returns to a white color scheme and is dominated by huge, freestanding, paintings. The use of dark woods for the floor, doors and window surround, stand-alone fire place and area rug under the bed adding the much-needed warmth to the room.
The outside pool continues the excellent contemporary design, with grey stone accenting the sleek and long pool design.
Located further down on the property there is also a wooden deck that sits over bordering Taghkanic creek, which makes for an intimate retreat in those summer days.
This is a wonderful futuristic and fun home from the outside, that is extremely chic and sophisticated on the inside. Home to stunning views of the countryside outside and a modern art collection on the inside, the Tsai residence just exudes class as is a truly wonderful Modern Dream Home.
