STEK is just about the coolest kid on the block when it comes to modern furniture. The initiative out of Netherland based architectural design studio, Ateliers Hessing & Brunings, is focused on creating a children’s furniture collection that also appeals to grown-ups. The simple forms, child-like shapes, and colors are all thoughtfully chosen to invite children to sit and play.
Until recently the entire birch plywood collection focused on a chair, a stool with storage space, and a rocking chair, but a table and bench set were soon added – all are consistent in their strong shape language and unity in form. The 30cm seat height of the entire collection is also the same, thus allowing for all combinations to be possible. The affordable and handmade quality will last a lifetime or more, and you won’t be afraid to show it off amongst your more adult prized possessions.
Their objective is to make people feel comfortable in their day-to-day affairs, and thankfully they have been considerate enough to think of jealous parents. Word on the street is that larger-scale items are also under construction! Until then you can visit their webshop, or view other stores where STEK is carried.
