Simple concept – wood is beautiful and should be designed as such. Simple rule and core principal of design – look to nature for inspiration. Mother Nature will never let you down, because she got it right the first time. The Petal5 Stacking Stool, designed by Brooklyn-based design/build studio 4-Pli, demonstrates all of the above beautifully.
The team of four Columbia graduates designs and manufactures furniture cut from sustainably-harvested plywood in their in-house CNC mill that are finished with low-VOC milk paints and varnishes. Much of their collection showcases elements that repeat, slide together, or nest within each other. The collection of Baltic birch plywood stools can either be configured as a flower, stacked in a colorful spiral, on separated as a single fallen petal.
4-Pli is a great example of a small studio dedicated to producing clever, sustainable, and healthy furniture from start to finish. I would welcome this wooden bouquet on Valentines Day, over the real deal, anytime.

I would also check out thrift, consignment and charity stores to see if there is something you can redesign for your purposes.
