Montreal just got cooler. Conceived by the interior designer Paola Viera, Tribe Hyperclub is a trendy weekend bar that has been bringing a über hip vibe to the city’s nightlife scene in recent years. Viera worked with Bertrand Charest and Michel Mailhot of the innovative glassmaking company Think Glass, which provided all of the textured glass pieces and panels throughout the two-story nightspot.
For the four serving bars in the establishment, a sem-industrial process called castglass that is a signature of Think Glass. A material known as Strata glass was used for the countertops and the aprons for each bar, which gives the glass surfaces an uneven and textured appearance.
To set a sexy mood for the place, Viera heightened the visual effect of the translucent glass material by strategically lining the bars and walls in the entire space with blue LED lights. This crucial gesture brings an aqua-colored glow to the entire bar and gives the impression that the glass walls and panels are giant slabs of ice.
To match the hip design for the space, contemporary furnishings ranging from slim bar stools to comfy leather sofas were employed throughout.
The result is nothing short of sleek and the bar owners are beyond satisfied, although there was initial concern that glass countertops at each of the four bars might pose a problem. Not to worry, the counter surfaces have been so durable they have even held up in instances where some of the bar’s more daring patrons decided to dance on them.
