The citizenM Hotel opened its third location for budget conscious luxury seekers, and it’s cutting edge as ever. Located smack dab in the center of Glasgow, the establishment pares down the unnecessary bulk of hidden costs to deliver an upscale experience for travelers a fraction of the cost.
Targeted at the young plugged in traveler, this eight story hotel carefully cultivates a contemporary and modern setting. The exterior of the hotel is made of granite and natural stone with a red glazed double height entrance. A series of lamps and a red helical staircase welcomes newcomers into the hotel. The rest of the public space on the first floor is divided into a series of living rooms and work spaces meant to mimic a homey feel where people can gather with a certain degree of privacy.
The hotel’s canteenM consists of a red self service bar complete with a fridge of cold beverages. The refrigerated areas serve breakfast items in the morning but at night the entire area transforms seamlessly into an en vogue bar.
The guest rooms in the hotel have floor to ceiling windows that stretch from wall to wall, and each room is equipped with an electronic mood pad that allows visitors to control the entire room’s mood with a touch screen. The same principal of mood lighting applies to the hotel room’s bathrooms, where guests can set the hand shower and toilet lights to any color they want.
In style conscious traveler’s trip through Glasgow, citizenM cultivates a sort of cool modernity that blurs the lines between highly customized millionaire home and affordable hotel. It’s luxury where guests want it and approachable in price.
