With so much construction in this part of the Middle East in recent years, it’s not surprising that we are seeing the world’s most talented architects and designers plying their trade in either Dubai or the United Arab Emirates. That said, it’s still relatively infrequent that we see a new building with both interior and exterior so stunning and innovative that the design world sits up and takes notice. That’s very much the case with The Yas Hotel.

The Yas Hotel in Abu Dhabi is big by modern luxury hotel standards, boasting 500 rooms, state-of-the-art spa and gym, conference and event facilities, and world-class dining in one of its seven restaurants. Designed by New York architecture firm Asymptote Architecture, with a team lead by designers Lisa Ann Coutoure and Hani Rashid that reads more like a role of lengthy film credits than a project team, it is a hotel of innovative futuristic design and palatial proportions. It opened on November 3, 3009, its timing coinciding with the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 motorsport Grand Prix event to ensure it received maximum exposure from the sporting events worldwide audience. And, it didn’t disappoint – just take a look at these amazing pictures.

The hotel design is visually stunning, with two 12-story towers that are connected by a glass bridge lit by ever-changing colored LEDs. The main structure has a fluid skin of steel that gives it a space-age and futuristic look – and if this is the future, let’s usher it in with haste!

The rooms are luxuriously appointed and so chic and modern in design it has to be one of the hottest properties (if not the hottest) we have ever seen.
The property is owned and operated by Aldar Properties PJSC, of Abu Dhabi (just as a point of interest, Abu Dhabi is widely considered to be the richest city in the world, which is an apt for a building such as this). We think that for anyone looking for an exotic destination with world-class shopping, location on a marina and unmatched climate and hospitality, this is a must-stay experience. My final words are simply this: WOW!
