Restaurant Design: Luzi Bombon by Sandra Tarruella Interioristas

restaurant design

Luzi Bombon is another location for the Grupo Tragaluz to showcase their products. Sandra Tarruella Interioristas was tasked to do this project again after the success of their previous project. If this restaurant design is going to be described, five words would fit right in including – bright, warm, cozy, spacious and elegant.

This hospitality design can be seen in Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid. This restaurant is a very versatile space which operates from breakfast to evening and offer to entertain general customers on different age brackets. Luzi Bombon – a friendly name for an establishment that offers a cozy and comfortable space to customers.

This can be attributed to the physical interpretation of domestic furniture from the 1950s. It is combined with wood and textiles while trying to avoid any formalism so that even the young can fit into the space. In this beautiful restaurant, light and smooth tones play a significant role in order to create the most comfortable space without compromising on functionality and style.

It opens to the exterior garden through large hinged iron and glass doors however a side volume to the building was created for entrance and through this garden. It is further enhanced and emphasized with a large wooden access door that leads to the lobby of this new restaurant. The focal point of the design scheme is the bar which also served as the heart of the restaurant which interconnects all atmospheres and levels within the restaurant interiors.

The bar consists of a set of planes of different interconnected materials in order to break the element’s heaviness and dullness. There are two levels for the restaurant in order to create different atmospheres. This also allows visuals to the front garden no matter which level you are on. The two levels were also defined further by different flooring namely – cement and carpet.

The amazing restaurant has the kitchen at the back of the premise which at a glance look like a light box facing the dining area yet separated from it by vertical wooden slats. Guests are also provided an area where they can eat and enjoy their food in private through the small rooms with built-in sofas created from the rising up of the polished concrete floor on the side walls of the room. This and the addition of colorful cushions create a special place for guests.

Indeed, this restaurant does not only give that “cozy look” but it does provide the very essence of the word.
