The interior of the AS Aperitivo, located in the Slovenian capitol of Ljubljana, was designed by the native born designer Nika Zupanc. The architects, Arhé d.o.o., designed the building by following the motif of the 150 year old tree which it was structured around. In a sense the two almost have grown together. With large glass walls there is such of sense of integration between the tree and restaurant, that it feels as though you are simply relaxing under the canopy of the tree itself.
Nika Zupanc added the glamorous almost bohemian styling. With a redesign of her famed Black Cherry Lamp, Nika continued the connection of the interior of the restaurant to its exterior environment. The cherry shaped pendants in both red and black styles appear to be hanging from their metal branches along the ceiling and add just the right amount of mood lighting. Using her classic noir-esque femme fatale style combined with the garden motif of AS Aperitivo, she enhances the space and gives it a sense of drama and intrigue. The wine bar restaurant is truly a beautiful and rich fusion of indoor and outdoor spaces. The restaurant is brimming with distinct accents, rich with history and open to interpretation. Many of the furnishings were created specifically for the restaurant. 200 year old oak wood, brought from the old family home of the owners, was used not only in the furnishings, but also in the fine wooden details found throughout the interior space.
The building and design of AS Aperitivo seems to be a labor of love for all who were involved in creating this fabulous wine bar and restaurant. From the designers inspiration to the owners who have made this a part of the family tradition. AS Aperitivo is more than restaurant, it is a part of life and a part of history, with fabulous food, wine and atmosphere.
