The owner of the colorfully-named Shiner International dropped a note in my mailbox last week, to say a few kind words about ChicTip and to introduce his range of modern, and more importantly, Eco-friendly furniture and lighting. Manufacturing almost entirely from others’ waste, owner Joe Manus is proving that U.S. manufacturers can pack a punch without leaving a large footprint.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Shiner International is combining creativity with an environmentally friendly use of materials to produce furniture and lighting. Whether it’s using recycled materials or woods from carefully managed sustainable forests, Shiner never takes Mother Nature for granted, putting everything to work to almost eliminate waste. The result is a modern and stylish collection that doesn’t compromise on looks or functionality.
By producing goods from a combination of waste and sustainable materials and creating as little waste as possible yourself, Shiner International has a blueprint for manufacturing that is a black eye to many in the industry. We think Shiner is definitely worth a look and have featured some of our favorites from their current collection below. We hope to see more firms such as this gaining traction with their eco-friendly disciplines.

Eco friendly interior design is an often overlooked aspect of combating climate change. Often green designers focuses on the architecture and energy efficiency of a building, but forgets about the paint, furniture, and accessories. All these elements when chosen correctly can contribute to reducing our carbon footprint and create a sustainable space. Great post indeed.
