L.A.’s Standard Hotel is one of the best-known design hotels in the country, with its midcentury-modern-inspired contemporary interior serving as backdrop for countless magazine and film shoots and glamour-god parties on a regular basis. Its restaurant’s 1960s-groovy decor could have been lifted intact from a Barbarella set, and the rooftop pool offers the opportunity to cool off in luxurious geometric minimalism. Rooms are graced with large graphic motifs in mostly neutral colors–sometimes on the walls, sometimes on curtains or room dividers and beds resting low on carpeted platforms. Voyeurs will enjoy the open views between the beds and bathrooms (though a curtain is provided for the more modest).
