There is a great article in the New York Times today, by Pilar Viladis, that I wanted to bring to the attention of those who otherwise may miss it, which charts the life, death and resurrection of the Burden House in Maine. Designed by Wallace K. Harrison, of Rockefeller Center and MoMA fame, and artist Isamu Noguchi, it was the vacation home of William A.M. Burden.
It was famously destroyed by fire in 1999 and has been meticulously renovated by Heinrich Hermann to restore its former glory, to such an extent that it is now listed on the Register of Historic Places. We encourage you to read the article in full, and check out the amazing pictures therein, as this is one of the finest examples of a mid-century home renovation we are ever likely to see.
