Hate going to the dentist? Don’t we all! That said, while researching the Bodell Apartment for our Modern Dream Homes feature last week, I came across the most amazing dental office within Anima LLC’s portfolio. Stylish and Chic, I’m tempted to jump ship and have my city dentist switched to this one out in the New Jersey ‘burbs.
Located in the affluent town of Short Hills, in Northern New Jersey, Barker Dental commissioned Brooklyn-based architecture and design firm Anima LLC to help transform their 600 square foot office into something stylish and modern for their discerning clientele.
The dental practice wanted to create a spacious and relaxing atmosphere, which meant the design, lighting and furniture selection had to focus on maximum efficiency within such a restricted space. By designing the offices in an open and fluid layout, and through the use of reflective materials and textures, the Anima team was able to deliver a a modern and stylish office with a calm and inviting atmosphere.
Clever use of bright color and lighting added a chic touch, while conveying a sense of light-heartedness. The office was completed using mostly standard residential furniture systems and industrial finish materials to deliver a simple and elegant appearance. This is a wonderful example of how to transform what is often a sterile and intimidating environment into somewhere calm and inviting. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
