Office Design : DreamHost by Studio O+A

The young looking, cool headquarters of the web company, DreamHost, is mainly done in white and other neutral colors with bold splashes of orange-red and accents of turquoise. DreamHost wanted a fun, casual work environment for its young, energetic staff and Studio O&A delivered. You won’t find any stuffy boardrooms here.

Rather, the main conference area at DreamHost is a cube like section in the center of the open commercial space. It also serves as a lounge area in this easy going office design. Clear glass walls are on some of the sides while plain white walls complete the cube. The doorway is covered with a red-orange curtain. A white desk faces a gray straight lined, armless sofa. In keeping with the casual mood at DreamHost, artwork in neutrals and the main accent, orange-red, rests on the back of the sofa and leans against the wall rather than being formally hung on it.

The area rug is boldly patterned in geometric shapes of black and white. The black exterior part of the cube makes it’s presence even more noticeable in the mostly white, open space of DreamHost. A wooden platform is located directly outside the cube and it offers more creative, casual space for stretching out to read a report or maybe having a project meeting. Bench style modular seating in white with orange-red fabric cushions is spread out in the work space. A white, high pile rug makes the seating look cozy.

For those who prefer more traditional options, there are pairs of chairs grouped in front of the large windows. There is also a long table surrounded by chairs in a glass enclosed room that could serve well for lunch or a meeting. An open kitchen looks neat with a bar counter with only the front showing from the main hallway.  The front of the otherwise white piece is a light wood  with horizontal grooves to create  thin striping in Studio O&A’s cool office design. The same material fronts the white, cushioned-topped seating modules in other parts of the space.

On the back white wall of the kitchenette, a narrow horizontal cabinet with frosted glass doors makes the area look neat, modern and efficient. Turquoise tile underneath the cabinet creates a fresh accent touch. Nearby walls are white with bold orange-red designs that are abstract curves and bubble shapes.  An exercise area is created in the commercial design with a large TV screen on a wall and some treadmill equipment in front of it. The ceilings, like the main parts of the walls at DreamHost are white in keeping with the freshness of the overall decor.

  1. Love the walls! It adds more life and style to the surroundings giving it a one of a kind look. Very creative indeed! Also with wooden floors and furnitures are always fascinating.
