The office design completed by Rosan Bosch and Rune Fjord is none other than the Toy Brand LEGO PMD. The project was completed in the year 2010 and was achieved by making use of an open plan. This commercial design can be viewed in Billund, Denmark. It incorporates the block-like display stands, model-building furniture and a library containing Lego pieces.
The eight glass fronted meeting rooms were painted with different colors and are situated on the first floor mezzanine wrapping around the perimeter of the building. The ground floor has wooden tables with punched circular holes within the coffee area. This creates both the leg room and planting beds. The lounge areas are dotted between display cabinets and workstations.
The office interior design is considered an embodiment of LEGO. It has been designed in such a way that the working environment complements the playful nature of Lego. The office interiors incorporate fun, play and creativity into the design and it gave the adults play the kid’s game – talk about mentally and creativity stimulating. This design has made it possible to combine fun, creativity, unity and innovation into one with the addition of sustainability and imagination.
The LEGO PMD is then made into an entirely unique development department where fantasy and reality achieved balance into the physical design. It has made ‘working’ a fun thing to do.
The basis for this particular design is mostly imagination and this in turn has made it possible to create a space that focuses on innovation, creativity and fun so that workers generally will have a great time developing ideas and concepts. The existing walkway was designed to become an extremely large sitting environment with light and soft cloud theme. The cloud becomes the sofas and other sitting space with a slide that allowed communication between two floors in the most innovative way possible.
The beautiful office has a layout that is challenged with design elements like the huge grass wall graphics as well as the extremely large LEGO man and tables. It blurred the demarcation between work and imagination thus creating a space that has both worlds in it. The fantasy world has been re-created within the realms of the working environment making it a part of everyday. It stimulates imagination without sacrificing style and sophistication.
Furthermore, the design of this cool office made it possible for designers to work closely together. The open space at the center provided a seamless flow between social interaction and collaboration. It has made this the best office there is for LEGO PMD.
