The new Melissa Shoes in Melbourne, Australia has child-like kind of theme with the bubblegum colors, bulging balloons and contrasting features on the texture.
I must say that the store design is like a creation of another world – pleasing to sensations and Edwards Moore has created this design. Melissa Shoes in Melbourne is the Brazilian shoe label’s shop established in Australia. The retail design is clad with around 300 PTFE plastic spheres that look like suspended balloons. They have been threaded into cables that are installed around the perimeter hence creating a series of hanging spheres all throughout the commercial design. They are then labeled as “bubbles” and they are the exact place where shoes are hanged or displayed – a very unique form of product display. It is actually the focal point of design.
It created a sense of space where the combination of product and shop design was apparent and indistinct from each other. But while this is so, the color scheme used in the store space was muted in effect so that it does not overpower the products being displayed. This is such a smart move when Edwards Moore has design a store.
The changing LED lights functioned as spotlight to emphasize the products on display. It created a surreal-looking atmosphere both for the shopper and the owner of the beautiful store.
This design for retail is specifically located out on the corner lot at QV shopping center in Melbourne. Since it is located on such a busy street, the design goal for this amazing store was to create an attention seeking appeal that people could not resist going into.
