Coordination Asia was tasked to design the Otto Bock Lifestyle Store and I think what they did was splendid. Not only that the store design reflected the highest level of authenticity but it also demonstrates a tasteful and contemporary store space while combining the vivacious green and bright white with the traditional touch of grey slate paving. This created a striking – almost fleeting effect to the retail design.
The design follows a butterfly motif both digital and embedded in reflective glass which in my opinion added another layer of attractiveness to the commercial design. Coordination Asia has design a store that is sleek and sophisticated yet at the same time it’s playful and fun reflecting what the butterfly and the Otto Bock brand represents – energy, life, grace and agility.
Otto Bock is a leading store for highly advanced orthotics, mobility devices and prosthetics and they approached Coordination Asia to design a shop that will uphold the true value of their products. I was immediately fascinated at how the theme reinforced the presence of the products and placed the spotlight actively above them.
Coordination Asia designed this amazing store with client comfort, support, mobility and convenience in mind. As a result, they have fitted the space to match the primary focus of the company – customer service. The design for retail features two entrances maximizing the entry to the store considering that the potential customers may have some difficulty moving around. They are greeted through a wheelchair height reception desk or a large octagonal table where movable seating of various sizes to accommodate the customers and their family members.
It was crucial for the shop design to develop a space where wheelchairs can be easily maneuvered while maintaining low levels of display for customers on wheelchairs and also designed in such a way that clients who are more mobile could lean on the padded supports while examining or testing the products.
Technology is at its best in this beautiful store – I call it beautiful because it feels almost heavenly just by looking at it. It redefined the quality and identity of Otto Bock – completed with high-tech iPads so clients can explore the store on their own or with the assistance of a friendly staff. To balance the formality and add a touch of fun in the design, Coordination Asia made use of the classic bookshelves design. It created a striking effect to the design as it caters to a more diverse clientele.
