In an effort to create an authentic brand from scratch, corporatize, modernize and develop a concept that’s related to a tight budget and immediacy, which is sometimes the case of fast food chains, the risk of robbing the design off of its personal and welcoming aura as well as the crafty feeling that allows you to think that the place is easily accessible is high.
But with Denys & von Arend’s design for SensacionS Restaurant, I must say that this risk was thrown down the bin. This is a transformation of an originally basement garage located at downtown Sabadell into a hospitality design that will take over your senses. The obvious challenge in this restaurant design is the fact that the designers have to harmonize the contradictions to integrate all concepts in one space.
While the need to create a well-distributed space is critical, it is also important that they deal with the functionality of the spaces necessary to accommodate two distinct activities – deal with the customers and promote the top-class catering while maintaining a low-cost gourmet service.
Notice the typical check tablecloth that was configured in a such a way that black, white and porcelain were combined, it was arranged at the heart of the public access area – huge customized counter desk which emphasized and accentuated the entire place which would otherwise be a monochromatic and lifeless atmosphere. I could also not help but notice the black walls and ceilings because even without wanting to the esparto grass rope that’s striping them immediately calls for attention. Despite the subtlety of the walls and ceilings, they remain a very important design element in this project.
This has become a functional and attention grabbing beautiful restaurant that creates a warm environment heightening anyone’s fine dining experience. The amazing restaurant goes beyond just the aesthetics and the concept implemented on the restaurant interiors definitely allows you to savor not only the tasty gourmet but also the experience of being in an utterly functional place stimulating the senses.
