Modern Art by Jason Craighead

According to Jason Craighead, the modern artist, his current work in contemporary art is a continuous evolution of language where self-discovery and personal truth are made. The process by which this contemporary artist does his art is intuitive and emotionally driven and this has made his modern art hit the mark. The resulting modern painting made me sense, feel and respond to life as it appears, disappears and reappears in the creation of his mix media art where the poetry of passion and belief at heart are all painted out.

Jason Craighead is known as the leader in the art scene of North Carolina. His art work has been included in solo and group exhibitions all throughout the Southeastern United States. He grabbed several awards and served as one of the juries for many art shows. He was also selected as the Signature Artist for charitable art auctions and his art works were featured in many publications like in the Artists & Art Galleries of the Southeast in July, 2006.

As a modern artist, he has participated in Raleigh arts community for several years. He also participates in charitable art activities including the Triangle AIDS Alliance’s annual Works of Heart auction and a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.

He is a resident in downtown Raleigh and grew up in Florida where he studied art at the Gulf Coast Community College and Florida State University.

Below are examples of his work –

That Last Fandango, 22×30 mixed media on paper

The simplicity of this mixed media art emanates from every inch of this painting. This is an amazing art that tells you about “The Last Fandango” in the artist’s perspective. The use of mixed media on paper and the subtle colors used in the painting talks about neutrality but it also speaks about permanence. Despite the commonality and the dullness of the colors used, the painting is undeniably hungry for attention.

Silent Leap, 50×58 mixed media on canvas

This is a mixed media art on canvas with an abstract concept allowing me to interpret the painting as it appeals to my senses and feelings. As the title of the painting goes, “Silent Leap” is a beautiful art in its own unique way. It appears that the painting has plenty of things to say yet its ‘silence’ allows you to communicate with it deeply.

Modern Art by Matthew Davis

OMG! I came across Berlin-based artist Matthew Davis while spending time on Pinterest (yes! My name is Keren and I am a “pinner”) and fell in love immediately. The talented artist creates these amazing surreal images by using his brush to slowly drip oil paints into small pools resulting in a multi-dimensional piece of art.

Modern Art by Jason Craighead

I’m loving the work of Raleigh-based contemporary artist Jason Craighead. His paintings show dramatic emotions and have definite vibe of abstract expressionism. His work is not colorful nonetheless he achieves a powerful effect.

Modern Art by Caroline Wright

modern art

Caroline Wright is a modern artist who graduated from Brown in the year 2004. She has a double major in Visual Art and Art History. After she finished college, she went to Paris to further her studies in fashion design. She wound up living in an abandoned state building in Belleville where artists from all over the world come together.

She overhauled a studio out of several secretarial offices that were locked down since the year 1980s using a crowbar. The residents of the abandoned building defended their project on a constant basis to the mayor of Paris. As the youngest and the only American contemporary artist, she also defended herself as she confronts a lot of cultural differences.

Modern Art by Iveta Abolina

modern art

Starting her drawing skills in early childhood, Iveta Abolina showed off how she can trace over pictures from magazines and books. Typical of a modern artist, her skills were developed throughout the years through painting classes in her high school years. She completed a degree in Design and Technology in the Parsons School of Design. These experiences have helped her hone her skills in design as well as improved her interest in the modern art world.

Her contemporary art style illustrates the search for beauty and balance yet in chaos. If there is something to describe her art work, it would be imaginative and colorful. Her almost obsessive attention to details and use of vivid colors has become her trademark as a modern artist. She made use of abstract floral shapes which made her designs – a work from a contemporary artist.

Modern Art by Tom Hlas

modern art

“The mind is a busy place.” This is according to modern artist and painter Tom Hlas. He creates modern art by working out his thoughts. If contemporary art is an outward physical expression, for him the process of creating one is usually turning inward, self-questioning and internalizing with a goal for clarity and meaning to the things the mind creates.

Tom Hlas is a contemporary artist specializing in abstract painting using acrylics as medium. Any onlooker will view his abstract works and be able to draw inspiration from it afterwards. He created his masterpieces through breaking beyond the physical boundaries and enjoyment instead of just relying on ones thoughts and feelings as he creates modern painting.

Modern Art by Tina Steele Lindsey

modern art

For a second generation artist, Tina Steele Lindsey has followed the steps of both parents – Jane and Victor Denfrey Steele. She grew up in the world of her father’s painting studio where he instructed her of Russian Impressionism methods. Through it, she discovered that emotion is one of the most important aspects of painting. To put it bluntly, she doesn’t paint if she is not inspired.

It is second of her nature to give life and meaning to all of her paintings thus she needs inspiration in order to do this. She believes that through paintings she can share her inspiration.

Her art is a mixture of little things with a combination of oil studies and abstract pieces. She delivers traditional painting and abstract work.
