C. Jere’s 70s Classics @ Jonathan Adler

I’m always a watchdog where Jonathan Adler is concerned. Adler is one of those rare designs who unashamedly and unabashedly will sing another artist’s work to the rooftops if he believes it’s remarkable. It is Adler’s own remarkable taste and assurance that we have to credit with this particular find.

C. Jere’s wall sculptures, available for purchase on Adler’s website, harken to the best of all things groovy. With an eye on decadence, and luxury, his work is a rarity among other sculptures of the era.

I was particularly struck by his piece entitled “Raindrops,” no doom and gloom here, just pure metallic glitz and texture. The piece is comprised of brass ‘raindrops’ and pieces of mirror all streaming from brass petals. A fine mixture of ironic metallics and beauty no one can deny, this piece is a finisher of the highest order.
